Treatment Options

Since the genetic alterations cannot be reversed by any medicines, there are no treatment options for EDS. However, individual symptoms can be treated and further complications prevented. If a person suffering from EDS is required to undergo surgery, stitches may be avoided and an adhesive tape or medical glue used to close the incisions.

Chronic joint pains in people suffering from EDS may suitably be treated with pain relievers or physical therapy or both (3).

Prevention Methods

Genetic counseling is recommended for prospective parents with a family history of EDS
