
Type in the word or words that you are looking for in the entry box,
select a type of search from the pulldown menu (Any Words or All Words)
and then click "Search."
Any Words: skin cancer
Just type one or more words to find any of the words. [ Search Any Words]
is the default.
Results: If you enter skin cancer this will return
all the pages where skin cancer is on the webpage (together) as well
as where skin is on the page (individually) and where cancer is on the
page (individually). This will return the most results although they
may not be as relevant as they could be.
All Words: skin+cancer
Type more than one word and select [ All Words] to find all of the words.
Results: If you enter skin+cancer (same as All Words
function) this will return only those pages where skin and cancer are
on the same page. However, this means it could return results where
skin is at the top of the page and cancer appears 250 words later. But
usually, it first returns those pages where skin cancer appear together.
Exact Phrase: "skin cancer"
You can search for exact phrases by surrounding them in double quotes.
Result: This will return only those pages where the two words skin cancer
appear together and not seperately.
Boolean Operators: + -
Use + in front of each word or a quoted phrase that you require.
Use - in front of each word that you want to exclude.
Boolean Expressions: AND OR NOT ( )
Use AND, OR, NOT, (, and ) to form a Boolean expression. AND requires,
OR allows, NOT excludes.
Use double quotes to protect the words "and", "or",
or "not" in a phrase.
