Conditions & Diseases: Skin DiseasesDermatitis & EczemaDefinition: Dermatitis is a general term used to describe any inflammation of the skin which becomes red and itchy. Blisters may develop in some cases. There are many different causes such as allergies, infection, made-made irritants, etc. Treatment may depend on the cause. The most common types of dermatitis are listed below. Eczema is another term used to describe any inflammation of the skin. When doctors and patients talk about eczema, however, in most cases they are referring to atopic dermatitis. Eczema causes itching and produces the formations of small blisterlike formations that release fluid and then form a crust. See Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) for more information.
Dermatitis is sometimes mispelled as dermititis, or dermatitus. |
