Renal cell carcinoma might by asymptomatic or display mild symptoms in its early stages.

The most common renal cell carcinoma symptoms include:

Painless urination of blood (hematuria). This symptom occurs in 40 to 50 percent of the patients that suffer from renal cell carcinoma.
A constant pain in the side of the abdominal cavity.
Unexplained weight loss. It occurs in about 28 percent of the renal cell carcinoma patients.
Fever. It occurs in 9 percent of the renal cell carcinoma patients.
Feeling tired and weak.
The present of a hard mass or growth in the side of the abdominal cavity that can be noticeable or felt while the mass keeps growing. This symptom occurs in about 45 percent of the renal cell carcinoma patients.
Back or flank pain or pressure. This symptoms occurs in about 41 percent of the renal cell carcinoma patients.
Anemia (occurs in patients that suffer from an advanced form of renal cell carcinoma). It occurs in 21 percent of renal cell carcinoma patients.
High blood pressure (also occurs in patients that suffer from an advanced form of renal cell carcinoma).

However, these symptoms are similar to other kidney diseases and only a doctor can properly diagnose renal cell carcinoma.
