Hair Removal Information
Electrolysis hair removal is a process by
which hair is permanently removed by inserting a very
fine gauge needle into the hair follicle and destroying
it with a small electrical charge. The object of these
hair thin, needle shaped instruments (also called
filaments, probes or wires) is to destroy the papillae
[vacular connective tissue structures that enable hair
growth]. Once the papillae and the follicle are
destroyed, it won't grow hair anymore.
Electrolysis is the only hair removal
method that is permanent. However, success depends on the
skill of the operator.
There are three types of electrolysis
hair removal.
Galvanic Electrolysis:
Destroys papille by producing sodium hydroxide by
the use of direct current through a fine gauge
needle. The process is variably slow, and repeat
treatments are often necessary. Also referred to
as Galvanic and the Galvanic Method.
Thermolysis: The
Thermolysis Method uses a high frequency
alternating current (AC)and causes water
molecules surrounding the follicle to vibrate,
producing heat much like a microwave oven to kill
the follicle. Thermolysis is also referred to as
"high frequency," "high-frequency
electroepilation," "Radio
Frequency" (R/F), "Radio Frequency
current," "Radio Wave,"
"shortwave," and "Short Wave
Diathermy."
Blend Method:
This combines both the Galvanic Method and the
Thermolysis Method, either simultaneously or
sequentially. It is also referred to as "the
Blend Method" and the "Dual
Modality."
